British actor Dev Patel (28, “Lion”) goes behind the camera. With the planned thriller “Monkey Man” Patel wants to give his directorial debut, as the US industry papers “Hollywood Reporter” and “Variety” reported.
The “Slumdog Millionaire” star, who was nominated for an Oscar with his role in the India drama “Lion” in 2017, is also on board as co-writer, producer and lead actor.
In the revenge thriller, Patel will play an ex-prisoner confronted with criminal corporate deals and greed in the Indian metropolis of Mumbai. Filming is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2019.
Patel recently starred in the terror thriller “Hotel Mumbai” and the drama “The Personal History of David Copperfield.”
